The book of life was opened to Claudia Delores Phillips, on April 18, 1948, in Rutherford County. She reached the sunset of her life on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory, North Carolina after a brief illness at the age of 74.
Claudia was a member of the Carver High School graduating class of 1966. She was the elder daughter of the late Rev. Hazel R. Phillips. Claudia joined Zion Hill A.M.E Zion Church at an early age and remained a faithful member into her adulthood. Her health declined due to a stroke at the age of 48. She also joined Zion Hill Faith Temple.
Claudia was a true believer in Christ and had an unwavering faith. She always carried a smile on her face. She loved everyone and everyone loved her. She had a very beautiful singing voice that she continued to use during her health struggles. She never complained throughout her physical limitations, which lasted for almost 26 years. She moved to Conover, NC a few years ago and remained there until her death.
She was preceded in death by her mother and older brother, Rev. William Fletcher Phillips. She leaves to cherish her fond memories, three sons; Rodney Phillips (Amy) of Greenville, NC, Alan Phillips of Hickory, NC, and Adrian Phillips of Concord, NC, One sister; Mrs. Veronica P. Powers (Bob) of Asheville, NC; Four grandchildren; Taiechinia, Khairah, Tzuleigh, and Giana Phillips, One great grandchild; Khathyleyah Rivera, one niece; Christina P. Moore (Leland), one great niece; LeAri Moore, Two great nephews, Dakota and Ty Moore, One great- great niece; Naia Moore, Two great-great nephews; Kai and Maikah Moore, many cousins and friends.
Services will be held at Zion Hill Faith Temple Church on Thursday, September 15, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.
