David Rogers Jr left this earth on September 24, 2022, with his family by his side at Accordius Health in Rutherfordton, NC. David Rogers was born March 20, 1934, in Rutherford County, NC to the late David and Mildred Rogers. He resided in Rutherford County where he met and married the late Mary Maxine Suber Rogers for a total of 71 years. Together they had five children and one Goddaughter.
His personal interests included family, working on cars as a body man, enjoying deep sea fishing, going to the lake with his son Dane and daughter Vickie, as well as his special friend, the late LB Lowrance. He also enjoyed talking on the CB radio, where he was known as the Bumble Bee. You would often see him uptown having an afternoon lunch with his daughter Cathy. He started his own business “Rogers Body Shop in the early 50s, where he was an expert body man, who gained the respect from the citizens of Rutherford County. He later became employed by the Forest City Police Department in the early 70s, as a Deputy. His charm and smile brightened rooms as well as people's lives.
He precedes in death by his oldest son; Marion King Rogers, his daughter; Roseanna Rogers, and one sister; Rosa Nell Rogers.
He leaves to cherish very special memories to his daughter Vickie R. Boyce (Edward), Cathy R. Hamilton (Anton), and Dane Rogers Sr (Annie), on God-Daughter Aretha Simmons. He also leaves in memory, thirteen grandchildren, Timothy, Marion Sr, Victor, Natasha, Edward Jr, Angela, Teresa, Tamika, Dane Jr, Porscha, Mariah, Kandice and Kalvon. Fourteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Two brother- in- laws, James Suber (Carolyn) and Jerry Logan (late Rose Logan) and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Services will be held at Thompson Mortuary & Chapel on Friday, October 7, 2022, at 2:00 P.M.
