The life of Matilda “Tillie” Littlejohn began on August 22,1942 and her journey ended on September 23,2022. Matilda Littlejohn was born to the late Roy and Sallie Simpson of Polk County, N.C. Tillie departed this life at her home in Forest City, NC. She was preceded in death by her husband Weldon Littlejohn,Sr., daughter Felicia Littlejohn, granddaughter Whitley Littlejohn, and great granddaughter Zaryah Simpson. Five brothers John, Steven, Robert, Roy, and Curtis and three sisters Mable Jones, Lucille Bridges, and Bessie Miller.
Tillie was born in Polk County, N.C. and moved to Rutherfordton where she attended Carver High School in Spindale, NC. She moved to New Jersey early in life and worked as a supervisor at Schering-Plough in Union, N.J. for 32 years. After retirement, she moved back to Forest City, N.C. She was a faithful member of Green Creek Missionary Baptist Church.
Tillie loved music, the daytime soap opera “The Young and The Restless”, and “Perry Mason” reruns. Most of all she loved her family, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She would do whatever she could for them.
She leaves to cherish fond memories one daughter, Veronica Simpson of Newark,NJ., one son, Weldon Littlejohn, Jr. ( Wendolyn) of Charlotte, N.C. 6 Grandchildren Corey, Nichelle Nicole, Christopher, Lyndsay and Jesea. 13 Great grandchildren Zahyir, Zakylah, Zamyah, Makayla, Melanie, Aaleyah, Jayden, Myia, Matheu, Marc, Ian, Auston, and James. 1 great great grandchildren Zaylani and a host of nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at Green Creek Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 1:00 P.M.
