Ricky Dwayne Murray Jr. (57)

Dwayne “Pretty Ricky” Murray was born April 30, 1965, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina to the late Arthur Junior Murray and Annie Bell Miller Murray. He transitioned from this life on Tuesday, January 3, 2023, at his home in Rutherfordton, North Carolina.

He attended R-S Central High School, in Rutherfordton, North Carolina. After high school, he held several jobs beginning at Yelton’s House as a CNA, Lil’ J’s Landscaping, and Everest Mill. However, his most significant job was being the caregiver of Ms. Odessa Thompson, the mother of Ms. Ruth Brown. His loyalty to his former teacher, Ms. Brown, led him to actually move in with them so he could be the dedicated caregiver he was known to be. Even in his last days, as he was in the hospital, all he would say was, “I need to get home, so I can take care of Janice and momma.”

In addition to loving his family beyond measure, he had another love and that was the Virginia Cavaliers, and the Pittsburg Steelers. In memory of our beloved brother, we are wearing black and gold to represent The Steelers.

Dwayne leaves to cherish precious memories his mother, Annie Bell Miller Murray, of the home; his son, Calvin “GG” Lindsey, four grandchildren – Andre, Jade, Liam, and Kristopher all of El Paso, Texas; six siblings, Nathan Murray (Likuan), Aressa Ann Murray, James Arthur Murray, Frederick Miller, Calvin Miller (Carolyn), and Janice Marie Miller all of Rutherfordton, North Carolina; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

Services will be held at New Zion CME Church on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at 2:00 P.M.
