Ruth Elizabeth Blanton

Ruth Elizabeth Blanton (Lib) was born April 27, 1956 to Adam and  Mary Avery Blanton. She attended Rutherford County Schools where she graduated from R-S Central High School.

“Lib” grew up in New Vernon Baptist Church. In her adult years she attended New Bethel Independent Church. When she moved to Charlotte, she became a member of Greater Faith Baptist Church.


Ruth was a talented seamstress who was employed at Tanner Doncaster for over 15 years, Hanes (Sara Lee) for 10 years, and Perdue Chicken for 10 years. In addition, she worked as a sales associate at Roses.  In her spare time she enjoyed being a volunteer as a Girl Scout leader assistant.  Before she became ill She  loved to read , go walking, watch soap operas,  westerns, lifetime, music videos  and participating in the March of Dimes walk.  She enjoyed reading books as well as the Bible, two of her favorite authors were Terri McMillian and Omar Tyree. 

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents Adam and Mary Avery Blanton and a special Aunt Ruth Blanton Jones. 


Left to cherish Ruth’s memories are her daughters Rashada Blanton and Takeyla Blanton (Antonio Poe); Grandchildren Denari Poe and Shyne Poe; Brothers; Frank Blanton of Gastonia NC, Johnny Blanton of Oklahoma City, Ernest Blanton (Linda) of Mooresboro NC as well as a host of nieces and nephews. 


Services will be held at Thompson Mortuary & Chapel on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at 1:00 P.M.
