Bobby Lynch Jr., 84, of Rutherfordton, NC entered his Fathers house in heaven on Sunday, May 5, 2024. Bobby was a devoted husband of 57 years, a pillar in the community and a father figure to many, and a graduate of Carver High School, class of 1959. He retired from Reeves Brothers after 36 years of employment. Bobby devoted his life to Christ at an early age. His devotion to Christ was apparent when he made the decision to follow his call to become a deacon in the Episcopal Church in the Diocese of Western North Carolina and to serve at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church. He was ordained as one of the first black deacons in the Episcopal Diocese of Western North Carolina in 1975. His commitment and devotion to Christ and St. Gabriel’s was apparent until he was called home.
He was proceeded in death by his son, Andre Lynch; Mother, Lillie Mae Williams; Grandmothers, Mamie Sue Carpenter; sister, Wilhemina Davis; three grandchildren, Brittany, Ron, Don Forney, and sister-in-law, Marie Cash.
Bobby leaves to cherish memories and humorous stories by his wife, Helen, daughters Michelle Forney, Lori Lynch, and Renee Lynch. Two grandchildren, Tara Lynch and Julious Lynch; two great-grandchildren, Siana and Skylan McEntire; two nieces, Stacey and Tonya Davis; three sisters-in-laws Brenda Couser (Terry), Linda Edgerton, Alisa Osbourne (Mark), and a host of family and friends.
Services will be held at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 1:00 P.M.
