For over 85 years, we have proudly served families during their time of grief. Founded in 1935, our business began not only providing funeral services, but also assisting in providing transportation to local hospitals in times of crisis.
In 1935, brothers Charlie and Gasaway Thompson, along with the help of their cousin, Lester Carpenter, founded Thompson Brothers Mortuary. Our business continues to be a family-operated organization, with generations of experience.
Stinson Thompson Sr with the help of his wife Shirley Thompson, strived to support the community in exponential ways. Stinson Thompson Sr. served the community through various forms of volunteer service, while also operating several businesses to provide resources to those within the African American community. After taking on "Thompson Brothers Funeral home" originally founded by his father, Stinson focused on revamping the business as a whole. Through his passion for service & strong faith, he not only wanted to serve families through funeral service, but also expanded by adding a chapel. This created a safe place where families were able to gather and worship during challenging times. Stinson strongly believed in making a difference, not only within his community but in other surrounding areas. He believed that by working together, more success would be generated within the community. Thompson Mortuary & Chapel is founded off of the business ethic & values that Stinson Thompson set into place.
