Sharon Watkins

The loss of Sharon Denise Watkins beloved Mother, Sister, Aunt and friend was felt across a broken-hearted community as she transitioned to her Heavenly home on Wednesday, July 16, 2025 at Carolinas Medical Center.

Sharon was born March 9th, 1961, to the late Shirley Jean Watkins and Melvin Head in Rutherford County, NC 

Sharon joined Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church at a young age. She attended East Rutherford High School. Over the years, Sharon worked several jobs and was employed at Fast Food Merchandisers most of her adult life. 

Sharon was a loving, compassionate, sweet woman who opened her heart and home to everyone.  

She was preceded in death by her Mother Shirley Jean Watkins, Father Melvin Head, Brothers; Don Ray Watkins, and Jeff Head.

She leaves to cherish her memories, Daughters; Aquela Watkins and Jashayla Jackson of Forest City, NC Three bonus daughters; Cherelle Watkins of Shelby, NC Taiesha Hinton and Chelsey Thomas of Ypsilanti, MI, God-Daughter Genea Mitchell of Enterprise AL. Four sisters; Lynetha Miller (Raymond) of Forest City NC, Gwen Logan (Ron) Lake Lure NC, Teresa Edmondson (James) of Spartanburg SC, Leslie Fisher of Mount Rainer, MD. Two Brothers; Anthony Watkins of Greensboro NC, and Greg Watkins (Cynthia) of Forest City, NC. Two Grandsons, Dacen Petty and Kzen Ledbetter. In addition, Sharon leaves a host of nieces, nephews, and her dearest friend Beverly Foreman.

Services will be held at New Bethel AME Zion Church on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
