Skippy Albert Forney (92)

March 1933- April 2025

Obituary


Skippy Albert Forney, 92, departed this earthly life on Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Hospice of the Carolina Foothills in Forest City, NC following a period of declining health. Skip was born on March 14, 1933, to the late William Taft and Blanche Long Forney. On Sept. 20, 1953, Skip married his high school sweetheart, Barbara Maezell Owens, who preceded him in death on January 10, 2000.   


After graduating high school, Skip joined the US Army in which he served for over 20 years as Military Police. He retired in 1973 as a SFC (E7). He received numerous decorations, medals, badges, etc. A few include Expert Badge (Rifle M-14); RVN Campaign Medal; Vietnam SVC Medal w/Bronze SVC Star; Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal (Korea); Good Conduct Medal (5 Awards); Army Commendation Medal; Bronze Star Medal.


He will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved him. 


Surviving are four children: Skippy W. Forney (Barbara), Rhonda F Price (Chris), Andrea Y McEntire, Tramell L. Forney (Sandra); Nine Grandchildren: Deirdre, Orenthal, Calvin, Chandrea, Tramell, Khadedra, Zoe, Kimari, Akiera. Twelve Great-Grandchildren: Eva, Kaynyn, Kalynn, Dakaylee, Trajan, Yana, Daylan, Bishop, Cameron, Nola, Skyee, Kaybrielle. One Sister-in-Law: Shirley Jackson.

Also, a host of Nieces, Nephews, Family and Friends. 


Services will be held at Mt Pleasant CME Church in Union Mills on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at 3:00PM.
